Square/ Back Bay

Copley Square proper is rather small.
But standing right in the center of it you can see, and walk to, some of Boston's well known landmarks like the John Hancock Tower, Trinity Church, The Public Library. In the Summer, there are many outdoor concerts held in Copley Square.
The Back Bay actually started out as a swamp and became home for the rich folk leaving Beacon Hill!
In the early 1800's, they built a couple of dams, creating the swamp, which quickly became a health hazard!
Almost three decades later the Back Bay was born!
This part of town is based on a French model with the streets laid out in a grid.
The Brownstones were built to high standards, which attracted the wealthy Boston Brahmins.
Commonwealth Ave is a Parisian Style boulevard, see the Comm Ave Mall, and Newbury Street has a very European feel to it, sporting outdoor cafes ands High Fashion Shops.
Newbury Street, The Prudential Center, The Hancock Tower, Boylston Street and all the surrounding side streets makes this section of Boston one of the best shopping areas around with plenty of sights to see ... click here for more!
