Beacon Hill
Boston Massachusetts
Beacon Hill, a residential neighborhood from the 1800's has many interesting sections.
Ornate Doorways, Lush Gardens, classic brick Row Houses, the cobblestone road of Acorn Street.
With so much to see a different section for the different parts of Boston's beloved Beacon Hill has been created.
In the late 1700's Boston's wealthiest, the
Brahmins, moved to the Mt. Vernon section called
the South Slope.
Closer to Cambridge Street and home to servants, seamen and artists was the North Slope.
Down near the Charles River is the Flat of the Hill and was home to cobblers, blacksmiths, horse stables and the like.
Just North of the Public Garden and Boston Common, Beacon Hill makes for a great place to take a walk when you visit Boston.
Charles and Cambridge Streets are considered the main streets of Beacon Hill.
Both Charles and Cambridge have many places to eat and shop and Charles Street has a great selection of antique shops.
