Dating back to 1634, the Boston Commons is the oldest public park in the United States.
Originally designated as Common Pasture, it was also used by the military and for public hangings.

Although the Common is mostly open, pastural land, there are many monuments and sights within the park including the famous Frog Pond.
In the winter months the park maintains a skating rink, open to the public.
Shakespeare On The Common is a professional production put on during the Summer months, FREE to the public! Bring your lawn chair and a picnic!
